1ST EDITION OF THE “SOPARS MARIDATS” GASTRONOMY CAMPAIGN

The gastronomic collective, the Cuina de l’Empordanet, started the new Sopars Maridats gastronomic campaign, which counts on the collaboration and support of the DO Empordà and of the Costa Brava-Girona Tourist Board and of the Catalan Tourism Agency.

They were evening meal menus prepared by restaurants belonging to the collective, paired with the wines from the wine cellars of the Empordà that best accompanied the dishes served on this menu.

Every Friday, a team formed by a restaurant and a wine cellar proposes a menu paired with wines from the wine cellar in question. The choice of the dishes and the wines is the responsibility of the head chef and the restaurant sommelier or the wine cellar oenologist.

Prices range from €35 to €60.

The objectives of the campaign are:

  • To promote the cuisine and the wines of the Empordà region through the restaurants of the Cuina de l’Empordanet collective and the wine cellars of the DO Empordà.
  • To promote a period of the year in which there is usually little movement and during which measures need to be taken to mobilise the local and national public.

The first session took place on Friday 1st of February 2013, at Restaurant Sa Cova in Platja d’Aro with wines from the Celler Espelt.

Bookings for the first evening meal, as well as all the others, were taken by phone directly in each restaurant.
